Tree Inspection

Published by under Birds,Trees

This handsome Baltimore Oriole stopped by to inspect our new copper beech tree this afternoon. Presumably having found things satisfactory, it flew over to look in on one of our new sugar maples. The trees seem to be growing and healthy.

Nano-Orchard

Published by under Dogs,Trees

Our cultivated fruit production over the years has been modest, consisting mostly of peaches from the two trees we gave Jen for Mother’s Day in 2012, one of which gave up the ghost a couple of years ago. Among the offerings are skeins of yarn, wool socks, and lamb skewers. Also today was the Landsman Kill Trail Association’s Fall Hunter Pace, which drew about 120 riders. Here you can […]

Circle of Life

Published by under Barn,Trees

Storms roll in; storms roll out. Trees fall down, in whole or in part. Sometimes trees simply die and must be cut down before they fall on the house, as was the case with the fir tree near the end of our driveway. However, in our ongoing effort to remain net neutral-to-positive, treewise, we planted […]

Après Squall

During a cold, sunny Saturday afternoon, our cell phones alerted us to an impending squall, which in fact arrived within the half hour. It cleared up almost as fast.
