Fence Me In
The new fence is going in nicely, bringing order where there was chaos. In the same vein, the mower was repaired this week, and it got a real workout. I mowed everything. And I mean everything!

As everyone in Rhinebeck will tell you (no, really; everyone), we are running out of places to put the snow. Some illustrations: Jen’s Sunken Garden … … Sarah’s swing, which the snow is rising to meet … … and her submerged jungle gym. Still, it reflects the light beautifully at sunset.

We won this garden bench at the auction at George Cole on Saturday night. It is every bit as heavy as it looks. It’s staying in the barn until spring, when we’ll figure out where to put it.

We returned from two weeks away (Thanksgiving) to encounter the first snowfall of the season. This created opportunities for sledding, snowman-building, and relaxing in front of the fire. It was warm enough on Sunday to be outside without a coat. Sarah is enjoying a post-Halloween Tootsie Pop — they now come in pomegranate! Here is today’s sunset — which unfortunately comes at about 4:00 p.m.

We had a rare sunny day on Sunday to see all the changing colors. We had the Landsman Kill Trail Association’s Fall Hunter Pace. And, some preparation for Halloween: Jen made hickory nut pie(!), and pumpkin seeds. We also had a nice walk.
